PhD position in chemical biology
The École normale supérieure (ENS) is an elite higher education institution for advanced undergraduate and graduate studies, and a prestigious French research center in the heart of Paris (http://www.ens.fr/).
The laboratory of biophysical chemistry at the department of chemistry is recruiting a graduate student to work on the development of chemical biology tools to observe biological processes in living cells and organisms.
The laboratory of biophysical chemistry gathers expertise in chemical biology, protein engineering, biophysics, synthetic and analytical chemistry with a broad interest in the development of techniques to image and control biological systems.
The candidate must hold a Master of Science in chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology or related fields and have a strong interest in the development of methods for the study of biological systems. An expertise in the fields of protein engineering, molecular and cell biology, biophysical chemistry and microscopy will be a plus. The candidate is expected to be self-driven, to have strong work-capacity and enthusiasm for science, and to have good communication skills.
This position, supported by a European Research Council (ERC) consolidator grant awarded to Dr. Arnaud Gautier, is available from September 2017 and is offered on a fixed term contract of three years.
